Combat Web-based Fraud

Powered by Ask Jeeves algorithmic search technology, Geo Trust has introduced Trustwatch Service. The new service is designed to combat web-based fraud, identity theft and phishing scams. Users simply type queries into the search box at http://www.trustwatch.com/ and view easily understood green, yellow and red verification symbols beside each search result that represent the web site's trustworthiness rating.

Earlier this month, Microsoft has announced Phishing Filter Add-In for its MSN Search Toolbar. It will block sites that are on known phishing lists and warn you of sites that it suspect may be phishing based on scanning for common characteristics.

Both TrustWatch and Microsoft Phishing Add-in are only for Internet Explorer.

Google partners with NASA

Google and NASA Ames Research Center, are forming a new research and development partnership.

According to Google press release, “NASA and Google have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that outlines plans for cooperation on a variety of areas, including large-scale data management, massively distributed computing, bio-info-nano convergence, and encouragement of the entrepreneurial space industry. The MOU also highlights plans for Google to develop up to one million square feet within the NASA Research Park at Moffett Field”

Imagine, searching from a wide selection of images from the Apollo space mission, that will be something!
